Number of search results

When I use the sidebar to search on particular words, the window displays the number of hits (for ex., "4 results found") and then lists the tasks.  However, the number of results shown on top is sometimes one or two more than the number of tasks I can see below.  At other times, the number of results and tasks are the same.  I am confused by this.  Is the app also counting deleted tasks?
