QUESTION: Can filter by User but cannot assign a User to a Task?

Hi, I can see you can filter by Role and by User. Is there a way to assign which User is assigned to a task though? I cannot see anywhere to assign this? So when I filter by User, it shows no tasks in the view? I am using Chrome.

Hi, James!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

May we ask for your clarification if you are looking for a way to assign a user to a task?

If so, just drag the avatar of the user  which you can see at the top of the schedule, to the task.

Hi mate,

I am the founder of Week Plan.

Thanks for taking the time to explain the issues you are having, it really is very useful to figure out what we need to improve.

Your case interests me particularly because this year we want to improve the experience for teams in particular, and it seems we have many marketing teams already on board.

Since we are both based in Australia (Sydney?), would you be interested in having a Skype call with me to discuss your questions, and see how we can make Week Plan the perfect tool for your team? (I see I have your phone number in here, but I like seeing faces if I can :))

Also I have extended your trial a bit more.

Hi

Yes that answered my question. Can you also confirm the following please?:

Issue/Question 1:

I much prefer the app.weekplan.net interface for my requirements than the next.weekplan.net interface. Can you confirm how long it will be before app.weekplan stops being available?

Using the JamesREX account, I have synced my Outlook calendar to the “Just Me” board then used a Add Role to colour code my meetings and reminders from outlook. This means when I go to the other workspace I have setup, “Marketing”, which I will be adding my work colleague Bamik to eventually [at the moment I have used a Gmail account to create a dummy user profile ‘JamesGmail’ to test what this colleague would be able to see] I can see that in the Week view all my meetings are nicely highlighted in blue, and only visible to me (because they are from the Just Me workspace) and not visible to JamesGmail user (when I log in with that profile). I have also setup a Personal list in the Just Me workspace which carries over to Marketing workspace with useful colour coding and, again, is only visible to me (JamesREX)

The next.weekplan user interface does not format as nicely, and it doesn’t seem to bring over tasks from the Just Me workspace.

If I am going to continue my trial I need to know that app.weekplan is not going to be discontinued when next.weekplan is introduced. Or that the colour coding is going to be improved in next.weekplan and ability to see Just Me workspace tasks in another workspace is going to be continued.

The app.weekplan is almost perfect for my requirement and my teams so I hope it can continue to be available but also be able to address my next questions 😊

Issue/Question 2: (please read question 1 fully first for this to make sense…)

On my Just Me space, I have made the Default Participant as JAMES REX (my user profile) for my JAMES MEETINGS, JAMES PERSONAL and JAMES REMINDERS.

I have also created a role in the Marketing workspace for JAMES PRIORITIES where again I am the Default Participant.

I have then created created a role in the Marketing workspace for BAMIK PRIORITIES where JamesGmail is the Default Participant (once I invite my colleague Bamik to the marketing workspace I will replace the default user as her instead of JamesGmail that I have been using for testing purposes).

Against each task in the marketing week plan I have selected the role as either JAMES PRIORITIES or BAMIK PRIORITIES.

This was so that when I (or Bamik) go into the Marketing workspace, we can use the filter to select USER to only see tasks which have a role where I am the default participant or Bamik is the default participant. It also means when I filter by User = JamesREX I get to see a view with the JAMES MEETINGS, JAMES PERSONAL and JAMES REMINDERS from the Just Me workspace. This is exactly what I want – a full view of my week including items only I want to be able to see from the Just Me workspace and also the ability to filter out any tasks that Bamik adds to the week.

So this is all working perfectly (in app.weekplan) except when I filter on User = JamesREX, I can see the tasks that are from the Just Me workspace for JAMES PERSONAL but not the ones from JAMES MEETINGS or JAMES REMINDERS which are both from Outlook sync. Are you able to help here

Question 3: Timeline apps integration

Do you have any integration planned with any roadmapping/GANT software to import the tasks into Weekplan. In my sheet this would be awesome if these could go into parking lot (ideally with some alignment able to be setup between the parklot list names & the buckets/areas from roadmapping/GANT software. Whilst Weekplan looks like it works perfectly as a Task Backlog & weekly planning tool for our business, I have a need to present a longer term view of our marketing plans via a roadmap/GANT – so if these too could sync together somehow that would be amazing 😊

Sorry for the very long email! I am 95% the way there to getting a backlog & time management tool for me and my team with Weekplan which has been many years in the searching! So if I can tackle to above issues I am definitely going to be signing onto the Ultimate plan 😊

Cheers

James
