Predetermined time slots for roles

Hey,

I would like to see an option to create predetermined time slots for each role. So for example, from 9:00 - 11:00 I have time to do tasks from role1 and from 13:00 - 15:00 there's time to do tasks from role2.

This would be a nice feature to ensure the balance between roles. I'm currently working on my PhD, but often spend time doing "urgent" work for my professor. So having fixed times to work on the Dissertation, which can't be used for other tasks, would be great :-)

You can actually assign a duration of time to those High Impact Tasks under each role. There's also an option to assign a role and duration of time on tasks that are already plotted on your schedule.


May we ask why this does not work for you? 

We'd like to understand understand what you'd like to see more on the app. :)

Perhaps I'm not using weekplan the right way; but I'll try to elaborate.

So, I would like to have a fixed structure for each day, in which each role has some time-slots assigned. As I said, For example:

9:00 - 11:00 : Work for role1

13:00 - 15:00: work for role2

And this could be the same structure for every day, or at least some each week.

There is no specific task assigned to each timeslot. The tasks can be assigned every day in the morning or whenever you do your short-term-planning. 


I guess I could do that by assigning the timeslot 9.00-11:00 to a high impact task from role1 which is repeating. But those timelots are not really tasks, for there is nothing specific to do in that time. For example, a time slot in role1, which could be "Faculty administration", could consist of totally different tasks like answering emails, drafting tests, designing the website, etc.

You could think of these timeslots as boxes, into which you can put different tasks from the corresponding role. And, most importantly - they block those timeslots! As I said, my intention is to make sure that I work a given time for each role each day, because otherwise some dominate the others. I guess I could ensure that by planning my day ahead every morning, making sure the roles are balanced, but, you know... if I would do what I could do, I wouldn't need weekplan ;-)


You could also think of those timeslots as blank calendar-entries which can be filled with tasks. This combination of a "prestructured skeleton calender" with flexible task assignment would be great!
