Space for thoughts, commitments, decisions and inspirations

Hi,

I love weekplan and it is the tool I use most often to organize my life around my priorities.  I have a suggestion for a feature to add to the app.  I think it would be nice to be able to create documents, similar to google docs.  In these documents, one can put essential thoughts, decisions and commitments that he/she will want to refer to later.  Currently, I find myself using journal for this purpose but the journal is not very appropriate for this.  First of all, in journal the segments are separated by dates not by title or topic.  Also, the journal grows very fast, pushing down the writings that I think are most important.

In short, what I am suggesting is to add a "Documents" plugin to the website so we can create rich text (or markdown) documents to which we can refer easily whenever we need.  As an extra, it would be nice to also add the ability to archive the Documents that are no longer useful.

Please share your thoughts about this with me and let me know if I can be more clear in communicating my suggestion.

Thanks,

Taha

(I'm a user, Ultimate) As of now, the usage of Journal is dangling in the mid air, disconnected from tasks & schedule. I don't think people know exactly what to expect from journal. There are hundreds of sophisticated journal tools out there such as Penzu. I don't see WeekPlan venturing full blown into that space. They may spend much energy there which won't relate to the main function of week & day planner. Somehow they need to figure out how to glue all these - tasks, vision, mission, journal etc. This should be done in easy manner for users to manage. With they? I'm not so sure.

Perhaps more & more users' guidance and votes on how can vision, mission, journal etc can help tasks will help them plan the dev cycle better and cater to us. As of now, frankly, they are vision-less with the vision feature (pun intended).

Hi, Taha!

Thank you for coming forward to share your suggestion.

What we have is a Parking Lot which is applicable for this -

"In these documents, one can put essential thoughts, decisions and commitments that he/she will want to refer to later."

If you are looking into a space to write down thoughts under particular dates  - " in journal the segments are separated by dates not by title or topic.", the Edit Task function has an option to add notes, comments and attach files. You can get back to these by filtering the complete/uncompleted tasks.

Although, we have noted that you are suggesting a plug - in where you can view journals separately from your workspace.

We will let other users share their thoughts and vote on this suggestion to help us decide on having this included on our next updates.
