How to set recurrent goals?

Dear aymeric,

First of all: thanks for providing us with this very useful tool! Second:i have a very useful feature request.

It would be very useful if you add the possibility of labeling a newly set weekly goal 'recurrent'. I've entered a couple of daily goals that will never end (such as adequate sleep, daily exercise, healthy eating) . Right now i have to copy them every week. A couple of weeks back i was on holliday. After returning, two weeks had passed and so i couldn 't copy them easily with the 'copy previous week's uncompleted goals' button. I ended up just re-entering them again. I know you have provided a goals section in e envision tab. However, i want to be confronted with my most important goals on a daily basis, so i want hem to be in the week tab.

This will be a great add on. A lot of tasks in life are repetitive. Pls expedite :)
You can already set tasks as repeating. A goal is when it appears on the left column "Goals of the week".

Hi Aymeric, thanks for your speedy replies. I might have sounded a bit harsh in my previous reply. Truth is that I really love the application you have made, only want it to be even better. Hope I didn't demotivate you!

Thanks also for your suggestion on using tasks rather than goals for what I am planning to achieve. I was trying your suggestion - to use recurrent tasks rather than recurrent goals. At present I can only repeat a task weekly. Would it also be possible to repeat a task daily? That might be an alternative answer to my initial request.

Thanks!

No there is no daily recurring tasks yet, although we will be adding it in the future. Sorry Aditya :(

Just to clarify, you are talking about goals (left side column) and not tasks right? Because otherwise you can set tasks as recurring weekly (I double checked, the Upgrade page does mention recurring weekly "tasks", not goals).

As people vote on your suggestion on UserEcho, I will be able to gauge the interest for this feature.

Hi Aymeric, thanks for your response.

I think having an overview on one's core roles and goals throughout the week is one of the fundamental principles of the seven habits. Therefore, if the majority of your users are inspired by the seven habits (as I), I believe they would share my feeling that this feature is important. The feature is also present in the tool that is developed by FranklinCovey. And, in the ad for upgrade to weekplan pro the setting of recurring goals was mentioned as one of the features. Of course, I very much understand that you need to prioritize. I just do think this is an important feature.

I see what you mean. Recurrence is actually fairly difficult to implement. I will implement it at some point for goals, but the amount of effort it takes to implement versus the little value it would add to most users means that I prefer to wait to have more developers working on weekplan.
